What we collect, why we are required to keep it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

CourseCruise operates the online Beginner Driver Education course you are enrolled in. Your driving school is responsible for your enrolment and for the in-car portion of your training; CourseCruise provides and operates the digital classroom on the school's behalf.
That means two organizations hold your information: the driving school you registered with, and CourseCruise. This policy covers what CourseCruise does with it.
We collect only what the course needs to run and what the Ministry of Transportation requires a driving school to record. Each category below corresponds to information the platform actually stores.
Registration details
Your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address. These appear on the school's student roster and on the ministry record sheet for your training.
Licence information
Your licence class and licence number, and a photo of your driver's licence if you or your school uploads one. The licence photo is stored in our database, not in public file storage, and is visible only to your school's administrators and to ministry auditors.
Identity verification
The challenge questions you choose and your answers to them. These are used to confirm it is really you sitting the course, which the ministry requires us to check periodically.
Course activity
Which lessons and pages you have completed, how long you spent on each, your quiz and activity answers, your practice attempts, and your final exam result. This is the evidence that you completed the required instructional hours.
Things you write
Notes, journal entries, your Driver Profile results, your driver manifesto, and any end-of-course survey responses. Your notes and journal entries are yours; we do not read them for any purpose other than storing and showing them back to you.
Signatures and certificates
Your signature, whether drawn or typed, along with a server-generated timestamp, plus your instruction record and completion certificate. These are formal records; once you sign, they lock and cannot be edited.
Support and email
Support tickets you open, and a log of the automated emails we have sent you so we never send the same one twice.
Technical information
Sign-in sessions, your IP address, and basic device and browser information. We keep these for security, and to confirm that the person doing the course is the person enrolled in it, which the ministry requires us to check.
Most of it, we are required to. Beginner Driver Education is a regulated course in Ontario. Driving schools must record who took the course, that the student was genuinely the person doing the work, how many hours they spent, and that they passed. Those records are produced to the Ministry of Transportation on request.
The rest is what makes the course work: saving your place, showing your progress, letting you review the questions you got wrong, and emailing you when your enrolment is close to expiring.
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers.
We use analytics to understand where the course is confusing, not to watch individuals. Some specific commitments about how it is configured:
We do not record your screen
Session replay is switched off. Nobody at CourseCruise can watch a recording of you using the site.
We do not capture every click
Automatic click and form capture is switched off. We record a small set of deliberate events, such as starting a lesson or finishing a module.
Analytics never carries your identity
Events are tied to an internal account identifier, never to your name, email, address, licence number, or licence photo.
There are no advertising trackers
We run no ad pixels, no tag manager, and no Google Analytics. The only analytics service we use is the one named above, and we do not run advertising for this course at all.
Analytics is not your course record
Your progress and hours are stored separately in our own database. Analytics is never the source of your completion evidence, and blocking it will not affect your standing in the course.
Some of the service providers listed above store or process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. This is permitted under Canadian privacy law, but we are required to tell you clearly that it happens.
While your information is in another country, it may be accessible to that country's courts and law enforcement under that country's laws.
Most of our students are teenagers, and a lot of them are minors. We treat that as a reason to collect less, not a reason to collect more.
If you are under the age of majority, a parent or guardian may exercise every right described below on your behalf: they can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and raise a complaint. Your school can confirm who is recorded as your guardian.
One thing worth knowing: your notes and journal entries are visible to you, and to your school's administrators through their access to your account records. Write with that in mind.
We keep your course and certification records for as long as you are enrolled, and afterwards for the period the ministry requires driving schools to keep student records. Those records exist so your completion can be verified years later, by you, by your school, or by the ministry.
Support tickets, email logs, and analytics events are kept for a shorter period, only as long as they are useful for support and for improving the course.
If you ask us to delete information we are legally required to retain, we will tell you which parts we must keep and why, and delete the rest.
Access to student records is limited by role: your school's administrators see their own students, ministry auditors see what an inspection requires, and nobody sees more than their role allows. Sensitive actions are written to an audit log.
Your password is stored hashed, never in readable form. Sign-in is protected by a second identity check, and repeated failed attempts lock the account.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as the law requires.
Under Canadian privacy law you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, and ask us to correct anything inaccurate. Write to us using the contact below and we will respond within thirty days.
You can withdraw consent to our handling of your information at any time. Be aware of what that means in practice: we cannot deliver a regulated course without recording who took it and for how long, so withdrawing consent will end your enrolment.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy concern, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
If we change how we handle your information in a way that matters, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will email enrolled students rather than relying on you to notice.
Privacy questions, access requests, and corrections all go to our service contact. Say what you are asking for and we will confirm your identity before releasing anything.
